  I doubt if it was the intention of the 'aposate' was to 'wake people up', although it could be quite possible that there were some attending who may have been actually asleep. Whatever his purpose was, and whether his goal was achieved, only he can tell.

  I did not care to watch the video, but if his aim was to disrupt the activities of the jws, well that can only be applauded. It's unlikely the jws would have thought any more or less of him. Whatever this person happened to do, or wherever he happened to do anything, he is still considered shit in their eyes. To jws there is no 'grade' of apostasy - either you are, or you aren't. And that means lower than low in their opinion. Which matters not to any self respecting apostate. So virtually any action taken to upset their little world can't be all that 'bad'. They hate you anyway.

  Are my children in danger of being indoctrinated if I let them spend the night with their JW family?

  so... i'm writing because i have mixed feelings.

  keeping my kids safe is my goal... until they are old enough to understand and reason on their own.

  my mother gave me the tapes (that i gave her back in december) of combating mind control by steven hassan, saying that she didn't have a tape player... reminded me of three years ago when i gave her crisis of conscience by ray franz and she said it's to big book to read and she's not a reader.

  crazyguy (very apt name) - the same could be said for putting your childern in a room of poisonous snakes.

  "I wouldn't worry too much" - if they are bitten we can always get some anti-venom. Prevention is better than cure. Why expose them to a definite and proven danger?

  lisarose - my, you even sound as though you could trust a jw even with the negative experience with your own daughter as an example. Why even suggest to someone else that it could be okay under different circumstances? You stated you wouldn't endure the problem again in hindsight, so why even consider it for another person? jws are to be trusted about as far as they can be thrown.

  every once in a while i hear people purposely make fun of jws, calling them hovas, jeehoovers, etc.

  i don't think that's a good way to reach them..

  jws are prime candidates for derision, mockery, belittling and other such fun. Likewise for those pitiful sods who feel sorry for them. I suggest that whenever the opportunity arises, rip the shit out of them and see how they handle it. Might just help them to manifest the fruits of the spirit.

  Arrogance. The ability to deaden one's conscience. No sense of moral or social responsibility or obligation. Suffering delusions of grandeur. Lacking any reason of justice. A measure of pride and haughtiness is also considered an asset. The ability to believe you have direct dealings with god and act as his mouthpiece is a requirement. Any history of sexual wrongdoing, criminal activity will be duly overlooked and considered an advantage.

  The watchtower corporation, not being an equal opportunity, will not accept applications from females, homosexuals, persons of a non caucasian background (the quota for persons i.e. males, of a coloured nationality has already been filled), or any other watchtower recognised deviates.

  RENUMERATION

  A lifestyle embued with the overwhelming sense of power awaits the successful candidate. Five star accommodation with unlimited attending servants will be a guarantee. First class travel and adulation in foreign countries is also part of the deal.

  RESPONSIBILITIES

  Is there anything you could do forever that wouln't get boring?

  not sure when i came to this conclusion but i can't imagine living forever.

  after a while i think i would be completly bored with everything.. not saying i wouln't like to live for a few hundred years or maybe even a few thousand if i could travel through space and discover other universes star trek style.

  but the thought of living forever sounds like it would eventually become a complete drag.. maybe i'm wrong, maybe after a thousand years or so you would foregt all the stuff that happend at the beginning and just start over in an infinite loop..

  Elder and CO just dropped by....

  i haven't been to a meeting in over a year, and as you know as soon as you stop attending meetings/fieldservice the "conditional" love becomes more apperant.

  the coordinating elder starts off by saying how much he loves and misses me, etc.

  i ask him, when was the last time you called or texted me?

  Good work - I like your style.

  Since this may be an occasion for reminiscing - your experience reminds me of the time my neighbour, an uber jw elder, brought the new co around to my house - a)either show him off to me, or b) to show the co how he was caring for the flock (although by this time I was well and truly a 'lost cause').

  It was on the weekend and I was working on building a driveway to the house. The elder trots up with this other guy and says he would like to introduce the new co. I looked up from what I was doing and commented "And what? Should I be impressed?" and then continued on with my task at hand. Needless to say it was not a fruitful call.

  Cheeses - always keen to meet the new hierachy.

  I need help in dealing with a toxic family member!!!!

  i have a close family member who is a pro in using shame to try to make me feel bad.

  they are coming to stay at my place soon and the issue of me and mrs hoser not attending/ doing field service will come up no doubt.. i need some advice on how to deal with this because whenever i deal with these relatives they make me feel worthless.

  it is probably part because they are jw's and jw's motivate by fear and guilt.. .

  How to deal with the situation? Make it known that this person is not welcome.

  i've been out the organisation for around 8 years.

  when i first left, im positive that i suffered from some sort of post traumatic stress.

  i was very angry at myself for accepting the really bad parts of the religion that i strongly disagreed with.

  Of the two congos of which I was ever a member, there were only ever three types of jws, and I believe this to be true of other congos from which I knew some of the members.

  They were either fucked up, more fucked up, or well and truly fucked up.
